Pauline Menczer wins 2001 U.S. Open of Surfing
Huntington Beach, Calif., August 4, 2001: Pauline Menczer returned to Southern California and won the 2001 U.S. Open of surfing. Under sunny skies and in front of a crowd estimated at 50,000, Menczer demonstrated why she is one of the most talented woman surfers in the history of the sport. Menczer dominated every round of the event and easily took home the $5,000 purse.
The U.S. Open of Surfing was one of the few venues that Menczer had not won in her illustrious surfing career which pinnicaled with her winning the World Title in 1993. A delighted Menczer will return to Australia for a short rest before heading off to Europe.
