Stickman wins Big Stick Surfing Association's LogJam Shaper's Contest
April 26-27, 2003: The Big Stick Surfing Association's Logjam surf competition was held in beautiful clear weather in consistent chest-high to overhead waves at Pleasure Point, Santa Cruz, on the weekend of April 26th and 27, 2003. This year's Logjam marked the 15th annual outing for Big Sticks Old-Board-No-Cord event. More than 100 surfers from 10 to 60 years of age, representing nine surf clubs from up and down the California coast, participated in the Logjam, all riding classic surfboards made during surfing's first heyday in the 1960s.
Besides the surfing competition, there was a shaper's contest where some of the California's best craftsmen entered retro-style longboards into the competition. Stickman, Pearson Arrow, Michael Junod and others were among the companies that entered the prestigious competition. It was Stickman, however, that took top honors winning the competition. The money earned from the auction will be donated to charity.
